Poetry by Markus Hamence, Adelaide May 2025
Like morning dew that coats the ground.
It doesn’t knock, it doesn’t ask –
It simply comes and lifts the mask.
Beneath the noise of them racing days,
It waits in silence, patiently soft and heroically brave.
A single moment, still and true,
Reveals far more than the noise can do.
It’s not about the right or the wrong,
But being present all along.
To breathe the air that’s here and now,
And feel enough, without asking how.
Awareness isn’t some grandious prize –
It lives in coffee, in children’s cries,
In gentle smiles, in quiet pain,
In scars we thought we’d lost in vain.
It’s not reserved for sages wise,
But all who dare to look inside.
To know that life’s not just a race,
But finding soul in every place.
