Soak Up The Sun

Poetry

Poetry by Markus Hamence – 07 November 2024

Soak up the sun, don’t let it fade,
Blaze on the streets like a live grenade.
Ink-stained hands and leather heat,
Concrete burns under booted feet.

Rays hit hard like a crash of sound,
City’s alive, loud, unbound.
Spit and shine, we’re fierce, we’re free,
Sky’s a stage and we’re the spree.

Ripped-up jeans, we claim our space,
Sunlight cuts like a knife’s embrace.
Soak it up – this raw, wild light,
Fuel for the fire, burnin’ bright.

Tomorrow’s grey, yeah, let it come ,
Today we scorch, today we hum.
Soak up the sun, take what you need,
Run on rays and rebel’s creed.
